The update ability exists for only six months, also your e-mail addresss only stays on the database for six months ... this is clearly stated and so no scam is going on. With all software it is important to have backups of the applications or licence numbers where appropriate. You may downoad the basic version or continue to use your existing pro version for as long as you like. Just make an archive of it so you don't lose it
