wma coded files not showing up in i tunes?

Is there a way to recode the files to mp3 or something that i tunes recognizes?

use easyWMA to convert (this is a Mac only tool) http://www.easywma.com/
It cost a small amount but well worth it. It doesn't work on some encoded files, but give it free trial:)
