Can't install LW on OSX

I had Basic LW installed in my MAC OS X Version 10.4.5 and for some reason I can't open it anymore. I deleted LW and I tried to reinstall from LW site. After downloaded the file that I get is "LimeWireSoftOSX" when I double click I get a window that it says

Alert
QuickTime cannot open the file: "LimeWireSoftOSX". It is not a file that Quick Time understands (-248)

Well I have share external hard drive with my other computers. I used my PC to download the LW file for OSX on my share drive then I opened the share drive on my MAC and copied that file to my local MAC hard drive. When I double click the file "LimeWireOSX.dmg" I get a pop up window saying:

The following disk images failed to mount. LimeWireOSX.dmg is not recognized.

Anyway. I tried both ways to download and install LW on my MAC and I can't get it to work.

Any sugestions will be very appreciated.
If you want you reply direct to my email: [email*** or I might get an email notification when you post here, I hope !!

Thank you very much for your help
Roberto

That does not sound like the correct name of the LW file. Where did you get it? It sounds like you got yours from a scam site! If you paid for the free version then I'm sorry to hear that.

Only get LW from the "Official" LW site here http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

Downld it ONLY using Safari.

Please in future check the forum Stickies at the top of each section. These have ready made answers for questions like yours.

Thanks for your suggestions. That's the site I downloaded the free basic LW program. When I download it that's the file I get "LimeWireSoftOSX". I don't understand why I am getting this file.

Try again from the link I gave you. And only that one. I just tried & the file I got was LimeWireOSX.dmg

I've a suspicion you've gone to a site with a similar looking page (copycat)

I did and I got LimeWireSoftOSX I don't understand why I get this. I wish I could send you a print screen to show you. Is there something wrong with my MAC? I don't get it.

When I use my PC to download the mac LW version I get the correct file but when I tried to open in with my MAC it doesn't recognize it.

Very strange

I'll get one of the LW team to check it out.

Can you tell me does the address change after you type it into the browser? Once you actually get to the downld page, can you tell us what address it actually says in your browser? Press downld & copy that address also. There seems to be something suspicious happening .. possibly sabotage. I wouldn't recommend a version that isn't truely LW's. Otherwise you don't know what adjustments such as spyware have been added.

I'll post the installer to you myself if you'd like. But 1st I'd like to find out what's happening that you end up with a suspicious sounding file.

I was using Internet Explorer and that's why I was getting that file

I used SAFARI and now it worked.

That's strange. Why IE doesn't work for that?

Now LW is working on my MAC

Thanks
Roberto
