Limewire wont install - "file not recognized"

I'm a new mac user - have Tiger, mac OSX v10.4
limewire downloads fine - is there on the desktop - but when i go to open the file, pop-up says:
"The following disk images failed to mount:
LimewireOSX.dmg file not recognized"

any insight?

Use Spotlight to find "Disk Utility"

It will open .dmg files.

However, that should have been automatic when double-clicking the file, so it may mean the .dmg didn't download properly.

If so, delete the file on your desktop, and redownload from www.limewire.com

aimeee, that might indicate more of a problem.

Can you go to your OS X Utilities folder (in the Finder's "GO" menu) and find the "Console"?

If Console is running when you try to start LimeWire, it might dispaly a more detailed error message that will help tell us what the problem is.

You could just paste the key lines here, or PM them if it looks like they may contain personal info that you wouldn't want to paste.

Of course aimeee is not using Explorer to try to downld LW right? If yes then that's a big mistake.

Solutions to this issue have varied .. sorry Stief for butting in lol :D Perhaps I should stay quiet.

got it working

the new download worked fine - it took me a while to find it in my applications folder because it had hidden itself off to the right so i had to scroll over to find it. why does it do that with al new downloads i wonder?
anyway - thanks alot for your help. :)

Good to hear you got it sorted. That is an annoying trait of OSX. Viewing in list mode of course doesn't have that issue.

Hi,
sorry for butting in - am having similar issues. Am on OSX, have dowloaded limewire and it seems to be working - am dowloading some stuff now, but although I have purchased limewirepro, my e-mail is not recognized and I can't open the limewire pro application as it is .exe --- any insights?

This is being discussed in another thread.
