Limewire Pro downloads as .exe no good for Mac OSX

Help!
I dowloaded Limewire and I think it is working - currently downloading stuff so will see- but I also paid for Limewire PRO - that I found under Bonus software on the members site. Problem: the application Limewire PRO downloads as .exe and I can't seem to find the right application to open it from my Mac OSX.
Please help! downloads are taking ages with Limewire Basic!!!
THX a bunch!

When you pay for Pro (US$18.88 for 6 months of updates & email support) you download the installer that suits your OS. The official site is www.limewire.com
There's no bonus software & no members' site. Where did you download from & how much did you pay? It sounds like you've been scammed
Warning: Download p2p only from official sites

Hey birdy,
thanks for answering!
I went to http://TheTvMembersArea.com/loginv2.asp
this is what it said on my billing info e-mail:
Billing information
Membership type:1 Year Full & Unlimited Access for a total of 17.88 $ USD
Pro Version for a total of 12.95 $ USD
NetSpyProtector Option - Protect yourself from malware for a total of 12.88 $ USD

Grand total: 43.71 $ USD

The charge will appear on your credit card as DOWNLOADINGHOME.COM

Scam you think?
so what do I do? It's taken me over 24 hours to download 5 x 350MB shows - rediculous!!!! would getting the PRO version help?
Hey, and how do I remove the brick wall, that would speed things up, no?

See the tips in the link Birdy gave you. Also see get your $$$ BACK!!! (music members). The normal recommendation is to try cancelling through the site 1st if it's within 7 days of your buying it. Next step is cancelling thru your credit card by speaking directly with the fraud & scams dept of your credit card co.

I'm not sure if that exact site is mentioned, but you may find their main page listed here Known Scam Sites (click on link)

BTW start off with LW Basic (FREE), then if you like it get the Pro version which is US $18.88. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

Ok, thanks will tra to cancel via the site and will stick to LW BASIC for now. What can I do to improve the speed though - this is driving me nuts!
The server indicates upstram 124 Kbps downstream 512, but the LW screen is showing 11 Kbs tops, most of the time it's actually between 6 & 8!!! so it's taking forever!!! Plus, I have a brick wall - what can I do about it?
Sorry, I know I'm asking a lot, but I'm lost!!!! I REALLY appreciate the help!

Lord of the Rings June 13th, 2006 05:06 AM

512 kbps = kpbs/8 - overhead = real speed in Kilo Bytes per second

The downld speed is usually dependent upon your sources. So if you can find more sources for that particular file, with any luck you'll get faster speeds. (Unless your ISP has anti-p2p techniques such as bandwidth shaping when they detect p2p programs being used.)

Test your LW speed out with a magnet link from here http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml

svb112 June 13th, 2006 05:25 AM

Ok, you were right - it is a scam- The company figures in the list you sent via the link http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...879#post119879
AND I called my credit card company - the payment is processed and in Europe, you can only contest/oppose in writting - no phone, no mail- and only once you have recived the bill at the end of the month. So there goes...
I'm trying to test LW using the magneticmix link The Scene Episode 001 (whatever that is ) and it's loading from 8 hosts at at varying speed of 8 KB/s to 15 KB/s... how's that?

svb112 June 13th, 2006 05:27 AM

Hey, Lord of the Rings,
what about : "Unless your ISP has anti-p2p techniques such as bandwidth shaping when they detect p2p programs being used" and what about the firewall? basically, anything to speed things up would be great!

Lord of the Rings June 13th, 2006 05:29 AM

That's not too bad but for a 512 kbps connection you should be able to get up around 50 KB/s. May I ask who is your ISP (Internet service provider)?
Also, do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?

Check your LW settings. Go to LW's Prefs -> Speed & tell us what setting you have (modem, dsl, etc.) & is Disable Ultrapeer ticked or not? Also go to Downlds & tell us what speed you have it set at?

Ok, no joke, I've just moved to Izmir, Turkey with my husband - so I'm not working at the moment - and neither of us speaks turkish! the provider is - apparently the only local one- ttnet (Turkish Telecom)- is that possible?
For the rest, yes there is a brick wall in front of the blue world icon.
LW settings as follows:
Speed is : DSL/Cable Disable Ultapeeper is ticked. Max downloads allowed are 8. 100% bandwidth devoted to downloads (unlimited).
I'm all ears if you can help!!! ;-)
