Burn downloaded mpg files to dvd

Can anyone tell me how to burn to DVD. I have tried to just burn with disc copy but it doesn't play in the DVD player. I just found some new software called Mac The Ripper, however I think I can only use it to backup DVD's, not downloaded files? Do I have to download avi files? I am confused! Any help would be appreciated!:p

That's right, Mactheripper is simply for creating backups of dvd's you own. It is a fine program though all the same. I could give you a list of others also.

As for burning dvd's on a mac, the dvd's should be burnt in UDF format which is the official dvd video format. Those burnt as data disks may not play on many players.

I'm only aware of 3 video burner softwares for mac osx (excluding the system's finder, disk copy, disk utility & iTunes.) One is free but is crappy & I refuse to recommend it. The other is made by apple. But the very best, & has always been the very best burner program for Mac, is called Roxio Toast. The most recent version is Toast Titanium 7. It is very good for all burning needs. Get it! ;) :)

Cool, thanks for the info. I guess I'll try that.

Toast is the master of burning with mac. Even apple techs whisper the same thing that it's even better than apple's. Toast can convert most video & audio formats including mpegs 1-4, divx, mov, etc. Also lots of audio formats, disk images for mac & windows, etc.

FYI if you have a new mac with a new brand burner, you may need Toast updates which you can get from the roxio site. If still problems getting it to recognise your burner, then use PatchBurn to fix the issue which you can google to find (it's free.)
