LimeWire won't install under Mac OS 10.1.2

I've downloaded Limewire for Mac OS X twice, and each time the installer hangs about 3/4 through the installation process. The installer then crashes.

I've had the exact same problem. I also experienced it under Mac OS 10.1 and 10.1.1, even after a clean install.

I'm running on a PowerBook G3/500 (Firewire), with 512 MB RAM.

I have a 233 mhz. iMac with 160 mb. ram OS 9.2.2 / 10.1.2 partitioned hard drive and I have been using Limewire v.1.8 for months with-out a problem and to-day I downloaded v.2.1 and it works just fine, so therefore I must conclude that you are doing something wrong. All I can sugest is you try again and follow the instalation instructions as they are presented to you.

LimeWire may also have generated some install log files that it either placed on the desktop or in the trash. If you e-mail me those files at afisk@limepeer.com, we may be able to identify the problem.

pretty picture but no results

I'm surprised to hear any form of Limewire ever worked on a Mac- I'm coming to the conclusion ther's some sort of conspiracy going on- how come all my friends with PCs can just download morpheus and start downloading, whereas I supposedly have to mess about with programming- what happened to the mac being user-friendly?

I seem to have managed to download Limewire 2.1.1 Pro o.k. When I run it on my iBook (OS X 10.1.2) it opens up o.k. but does nothing. No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to get it to connect- clicking on "connect" from the menu makes no difference. I don't understand it- I'm getting all the ads which should mean that I am connected, but nothing ever happens. What am I dong wrong?

By the way, I tried the whole terminal affair and I can't get it to work for me either. I'm desperate to get this damn thing working- the only other programme I could ever get to work (aimster) no longer seems to exist and, anyway, Limewire graphics seem so much nicer...

There might be an issue with user permissions. Did you install it to a clean directory where no other users were the owners of the files in that directory?

You could try just creating a new directory and installing to it before running LimeWire, as I have seen issues like this with multiple users on an OSX machine.

Here's something:

I posted this in a similar thread, but I thought it might be best if I posted it in both places:

This is what I get when I open the package contents and run the installer script (Contents/MacOS/install) using the Terminal. I hope this helps in rectifying the problem.
