Hey (LW won't stay open)

Hey everyone.

I am new to this whole idea of using forums for support and help. So let me introduce myself as chaders.

For obvious reasons I have joined and one thereof is the following:

I purchased Limewire Pro. I have trouble having the package stay open once I have opened the application. It cuts out leaving me with a purchased software that does not stay open.

I contacted the lime support but that has not helped and also apple support, but they never respond.

Any hints or tips would be much appreciated as I would like to start using the software package.

Cheers new friends

Same thing...

Hey! What's up? listen, the same thing is happening to me, I paid a version of Limewire PRO, I have a Macbook Pro, MAC OSX, with a Dsl connection. The installation went great, everything worked until I opened the program, when the "tips" appear, the program just shuts down and I get a system note saying that the program must quit unexpectedly... Can anyone please help me, as the Limewire guys won't reply my emails...

Thank you!

I have downloaded files identified as FLAC files, and now that they are in library, LW doesn't recognize them and they will not play, how can I convert these files so they will play in either LW or Winamp. I am new to this forum, so I'm not sure how long it takes for an answer, but I shall be waiting patientlyh, Thanx.

Ditto

I'm experiencing the same as chaders and ejeans. I just downloaded the most current version of LW Pro, hoping that would help. I'm using a Mac Powerbook G4 1.67ghz, Mac OS 10.4.10, Apple's built-in firewall on, 1Gb ram, >300Gb disk space, broadband connection. Does anyone know of specific software conflicts with particular "protection" programs, eg norton for Mac, etc? I had an earlier version (don't remember #) that worked great, but also don't remember if I loaded some software later that might conflict. If that's a possibility, not sure where to start checking.

I'm not sure if LW player can play FLAC files or not. But you could as .flac onto the extensions it shares if it's not already there ... under Tools>Options>Sharing I think it is.
I've downloaded FLAC files before. But I don't use LW's media player. On that point, I did come across a couple of corrupted/fake FLAC files.

I am not sure if Winamp can play them ... you may need to visit the winamp site & see if they have any flac plug-ins to add to winamp's abilities.

If you were using Mac OSX, I'd recommend using Switch for FLAC files.

Norton only offers NAV for OSX 10.4, they didn't bother to update their Utilities. No, it should not affect LW.

*** Remember, the latest LW versions require Java 1.5 which means it is no longer compatible with OSX 10.3. But you can get Pro versions or Basic versions that are compatible. See the Stickies at the top of this section to find out more.

The 3 of you with opening problems ... try Jum's nightly build CVS versions & see if that fixes your problem; LimeWire cvs builds (4.13.4jum490) & click on the nightly build link. ;) But keep in mind his versions are betas & has some small differences to the normal LW.

I am having the same problem. I am however not using the pro version of Limewire. I am using MacBook Intel with OS10.4.10, 2gHz Intel Core Duo, 2 Gb of RAM, I have a DSL connection, Limewire Version 4.14, Java 1.4.2. I start up, get the obnoxious "do you want to upgrade to Pro", say later, and the program immediately shuts down. Get message "Limewire Has Unexpectedly Quit." It is not longer unexpected by me. BTW, I live in Italy.

Did you try SAFE Boot & Repair Permissions which you should do after installing any software or after any OSX updates. Also did you try the Jum build suggested above?

PJW September 8th, 2007 12:40 AM

My OS is up to date. I run maintenance scripts daily which repair permissions. I safe booted. Still nothing. Is it possible that this software won't run in Italy? BTW, thank you for getting back to me. P
