I'm about to pull my hair out...(Installing problems)

Hello...I just got a new hard drive installed on my iBook G4 (running OS 10.3.4), and I've been desperately trying to install a p2p program (any program!) from Gnutella. I've tried LimeWire, FrostWire, and Phex. All do the same thing: they download just fine, but when I try to open/install any of them, the icon bounces a few times in the dock and then closes right up. I haven't been able to get any of these programs to even open for me. Any thoughts? I've been searching around and apparently this problem is somewhat common, but I haven't been able to figure out how to fix it. Thanks for any and all help! :)

To use the latest p2p programs you need java 1.5 but OSX 10.3 only uses Java 1.4
So ... you need an older version LW -> Lime Wire » Download Out-Of-Date Installers AND after installing, do these things SAFE Boot & Repair Permissions to get your system back into order.
