Need more sources - for every file! Hi, I've been searching through the forum and haven't found an answer to my problem so was wondering if somebody might be able to help me. LW worked perfectly on my last Macbook Pro, never had a problem (until it was stolen!) Now I haven't been able to download a single song on my new Macbook Pro. I'm only trying to download audio files. It searches for them fine, says connecting and then either: awaiting sources or need more sources. It can't be true because it is happening for every single music file and I never had this problem before. It is not progressing past 0% for any file I try. I've got a turbo-charged connection. I've also tried: - Removing hosts from connections - didn't work. My details: 1. OS version? Mac OS 10.4.10 2. What firewalls you have? none 3. How much ram? 2GB 4. Hard Disk space available? 64GB 5. Connection type? DSL 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? D-Link router/modem at work, Siemens Speedstream 4200 modem & Belkin router at home. 7. Where are you trying to connect from? Work - small office (ethernet) and home (wireless) 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW 4.14.8, Java 1.5.0_07 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? iiNet at work, Optusnet at home. 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It works. 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? No. I did install Demonoid and PeerGuardian before, but uninstalled them. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user? LW worked perfectly on my last Macbook Pro (6 months). Hasn't worked at all since I installed it on this one. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes, but it didn't work when I removed it either. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/attach...1&d=1158099342 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? UPnP enabled. Tried port forwarding too and that didn't work. 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? None 16. What country are you living in? Australia Thanks so much in advance if you can help! |

Hi gabisnow, I'm not a Mac user, so don't hate me if this doesn't help...try deleting LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed (won't work if LW's running). See LOTR's post here for the location of the folder. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/278052-post2.html |

It sounds to me like you are firewalled by your D-Link. The D-Link's are best port forwarded. You need a static ip for port forwarding. Setting up OSX Static IP for static ip which is the very first thing you must do before port forwarding. Then your model may be similar to my old model: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...4g-router.html. After that see Manual port forward instructions & sample image Belkin should be fine, at least I swapped from the D-Link to Belkin & no port forwarding necessary for the Belkin. BUT I needed to turn the OSX firewall off. The OSX firewall clashes with the Belkin firmware. DOH !!! If you need the OSX firewall on then you need to port forward the belkin. Another issue with downloads is duds/fakes. Beware of Fake files in search results & also see How to find music BTW Sorry for the late response. |
