Important note for those who have or are intending to upgrade to Leopard OSX 10.5

After speaking to a mac technician, upgrading to Leopard can be thwart with problems. He recommended:

1. Archive Install. ____ Else, 2. Back up all your files, reformat, clean install, then re-incorporate your personal files.

A simple upgrade from an earlier OSX to Leopard can result in internet browser & other problems. eg: unable to access your previous popular sites with your browser. And other issues.

This thread is simply intended as a consideration for those have or are intending to upgrade their OSX to Leopard, not as a hard & fast rule.

Chances are that if you follow the above advice, you will not have any problems running & connecting with LW. ;)

I just upgraded to 10.5 I find AVI & MPEG load and start slow.
How can I make Quicktime Pro or Easy WMV my default player?

How to change default program in OSX (click on blue link). In your case choose QuickTime. I would recommend getting Flip4Mac which works as either or both a QT plug-in & also has its own player for WM files. With Flip4Mac you'd make QT your default player. That download page gives you a trial version. I think the trial only refers to exporting, not for playing.

There's also other QT plug-ins you may wish to get such as Perian, MediaPipe, 3ivx, XviD. We normally recommend having both MPlayer & VLC as back up players. ;)
Perian gives lots of various support for QT including playing WMV, DivX, etc.

Check this post Setting up Java for Leopard (see 2nd image) & do the same checking. If Java 6 is not listed in your Java preferences then unfortunately your computer is not compatible with LW 5 & would need to revert back to LW 4. If you do have Java 6, then see if the beta fixes your issue: LimeWire 5.2.5 (Beta) - Lime Wire
