Help Help Help!! (limewire won't run) .. * old version fixed issue after cleaning up
 

first off- im using an ibook g4 running osX 10.4.11 and have tried to install anything at this point!

I cant get limewire or frost wire to run for anything, the software update feature claims that it cant connect to the network (to update java)(so i installed the latest version and went to install it and it told me i need to dl previous releases first.....go figure!) not only did the latest version of limewire wipe out my previous working one, but it didnt even finish installation, it just gets stuck! so naturally i tried to install a previous version. well when i did that the installer got to a point where i went to click install and then said "cannot continue. there is nothing to install" even though im 100% sure that i dont have any build of limewire installed any longer.

and as for frostwire, it just bounces in dock a few times then vanishes....

i looked around the forum and one possible solution was to download the latest beta i believe? well i did that and got the same error "...nothing to install". not only that but the installer said i had alreaddy installed a later version! can someone PLEASE help me!?! im about to rip my hair out!

I'd suggest removing your LW preferences folder, your FW Prefs folder if you have one, and any LimeWire & FrostWire receipt packages. Check 2nd & 3rd posts here Can't launch LW: Bouncing in Dock (click on link). Delete all installed LW & FW program folders. If they are on their own within a folder called Applications, then delete that folder too. Then reinstall an older version (LW 4.16 or earlier.)

I received a PM from Sightblinder saying that this worked. Now using LW 4.16.x
