Not able to play downloads

I gather that many of the items listed in a search are bad. If I understand what I've read, the downloads that won't play in the LimeWire Media Player are not really music even though they are listed as, Quality 4 stars. Several file sizes were listed as being viruses, if they are why are they also some time identifies as Quality 4 stars? Is my understanding correct? If more info is needed please let me know.

Thanks for any response.

Quality column refers to chances of successful connection to host(s) & of starting & finishing the download. Since some hosts of files might be many, many ISP hops away &/or might also have non-configured firewalls making it more difficult to download from such hosts. The latter would have less than 4 stars listed under the quality column. :)

Thanks I understand the quality issue but what about the won't play items?

I didn't answer that point because I thought you may have understood, either the files you downloaded are spammed junk files that are perhaps not really audio files or are deliberately corrupt ones, else the LW player is not behaving well. Could be both these reasons. The LW media player is not super reliable.

If you have doubts about a particular audio file, try playing it in this player: VOX & if the file won't play then it's most likely a bad file. If it does play ok, then at least for that file the issue was LW's media player. :) VOX is only a small basic music player, but it can play a very wide range of different audio file types. Worth having as a backup player. ;)

I tried to click on "VOX" but got an address not available error message. When I looked it up in Google, I didn't see anything that appeared to fit. Is there a better name?

Oops .. sorry about that, mucked up the link, try again. :) The program looks identical to Toolplayer which I already have. Toolplayer was the program's previous name. It changed name & site very recently. It took me a while to trace it since the original Toolplayer site is closed down. Even Apple have not updated their url site address for the program. Apple gave this program the total thumbs up as a 3rd party program. :) As you will see, Vox can play so many formats including lossless formats such as apple lossless, Monkey's Audio (APE) & FLAC.
