Warning to OS X 10.4 users: money wasted!

When I bought PRO Extended version for £17.50 I did not know it would not open with OS X 10.4 Tiger, and I was not warned before buying, only when the download page revealed the truth. Now, LimeWire won't not open at all, and I have wasted my money. I am appalled by this policy.

FWIW, the LW devs are also upset by Apple's silence about not making java 1.6 available to PPC or 10.4 users. LimeWire Forums

However, I thought that the warning about LW 5 and OS X 10.4/PPC had been made clear, but you're right: I just tried and there was no warning from the download button to the credit card entry screen that I could find.

I'll see if I can get a response, and see what options they offer. Can you at least download the 4.18.8 Pro? That's the one I'm using on my 10.4 PPC iBook, and it works. Not the ideal solution if you wanted the new features of LW5, but at least it gets you a Pro that runs well on 10.4

LW definitely will not be happy to find that the warnings are not visible now.

LW 5 not for OS X 10.4

Yes luckily I can run the older version on Tiger. However, LW still has a deceptive policy because you pay too much for a cheaper version that is valid only for 6 months and has no support. I would be glad if they could make LW5 accessible for Java 1.5, or refund those people lured into a false bargain.

Same Situation Here!!

I wish I would have seen this post BEFORE plunkin' down the cash, only to find, that Pro would NOT install, tried to get some type of support, and getting NO love whatsoever from Gnutella, or WHOEVER owns LimeWire. Nothing but run-around.

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/mac-os...0-5-later.html (click on link). You can still use LW 4.18 & besides, LW 5 has had a lot of popular functions removed. So I think you'd actually prefer LW 4. ;) Unless of course you would prefer a skeleton program. :)

Personally I suspect their own enthusiasm with actually reaching LW 5 after so many versions of LW4 was their reason for releasing a Beta version as the official release. I suspect it should have been held back until users had had a chance at giving proper feedback on the program & LW.org programmers had re-instated some of the old functions they left out. :)

You can blame Apple for not making a 32-bit Java 6 available for users. Instead their Java 6 (1.6) is only available for the most recent intel machines. :(
