Downloading problems: Mac OS X 10.4.11 and LW 5 opening issue

Hi, I hope someone can help. I am not sure there is a thread, but I use to have the old version of Basic LimeWire and I just downloading the newer version 3 times on my Mac. It says the download was successful but every time I click on the LimeWire icon, it asks me if I want to download again?
I should of just stayed with the older version. Now I cannot even find that on my computer. It says it downloads to my Mac Hard drive but it is not there when I open that. The icon stays on my desktop and LimeWire will not open. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thanks

My internet service provider is Sonic.net

I am connecting from my house and I can't seem to find how much memory or RAM I have, but It should be enough because I just got this and have lots of room

LW 5 is not compatible with OSX 10.4 unfortunately due to the earlier Java version Jaguar uses.

You will need to revert back to LW 4, recommended is LW 4.16 but your choice of course. Before you install you will need to remove the install limewire.pkg file from the Receipts folder else OSX will prevent you from installing an earlier version. ;)
See older version links here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/mac-os...link-here.html :)

I have done what you said. I first made sure that there was no limewire stuff on my computer. I then tried the lw 4.16 from the site you gave.
It wouldn't let me even download that one saying it was not recognized.
So I got rid of that and tried to download the LW 4.12.15 which is what I think I had on there and it downloads the green icon and when I go to click on that it takes me to the screen .. where do you want this file ... it tells me an older version exsist and is it ok to replace, I say yes, then it says it cannot install because there is nothing there. I should have just left things alone with the older version. And to top off a great evening of losing my Limewire, all my songs in my itunes vanished. I have tried everything and cannot seem to get limewire at all :-(

actually ... it is telling me that a newer version exists and if it OK to replace the newer version with the old and I say yes... however, I have done a full search on my computer and I can find nothing that says Limewire is on my computer any more, but it is telling me that it can't install because there is nothing to install. This is all very frustrating.

The LW 4.16.7 & 4.16.6 are still there, just need to go to lower part of page. Unfortunately that site changes the download location on the webpage and there's advertisement spam surrounding it. First look for Request download Ticket & click that button. Then on page that opens up choose Download. Ignore all the large advertisement spam that surrounds it such as Missing DLL's and other larger buttons.

This is a more updated sample image of that page & which to select http://www.gnutellaforums.com/attach...ll-ifileit.gif

To remove from Receipts folder see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/mac-os...tml#post132073 To delete the other LW preferences folder scroll up to post #5 from that link to see instructions. :)

I could not get it to work, no matter what I did. I decided to go with Frostwire, which works just as well, except I cannot preview the songs ahead of time without it crashing.
If I don't preview, I can usually get all the songs I need. Limewire just wasn't worth the hassle of trying to restore. This one works fine. Thanks for your help though, it was appreciated.
