Default New Mac LimeWire user

I've just downloaded LimeWire for the Mac with the help of my niece. There are no "play" buttons in the lower right corner as in the LimeWire Interactive Tour example .I opened and played an MP3 file in Quicktime. When I go to burn an audio CD I get a message that says the file is in the wrong format. I'm Using Toast 3.8.2. What do I do to burn a CD and be able to listen to it on my CD player?
