the number of times I've tried to install this software - all versions (including the latest as of today Wednesday, May 21, 2003) - always get the same result - two folders and one text file appear in the trash. that's all that happens. one folder is full of a bunch of stuff and the other's empty. the text file when opened by simpletext just reports a load of stuff i don't understand. perhaps i'll never know what this software is supposed to do?

Those are just the files from either the previous version of LimeWire or the installer. The actual program will work just fine. You can just empty the trash. This happens to me all the time when I install an updated version of LimeWire. I just trash the stuff.

there isn't "an actual program" installed anywhere! i meant, *all* i get is that stuff dumped in the trash -- i've searched for "limewire" and the installer's not installed any program, just those files in the trash

Your saying it does not install anything at all? Search for LimeWire and delete it. Then download v2.9.10 from my signature. Next you should close all programs that are open and run the installer. Good luck.
