Unhappy help for a new user

For some reason, after fiddling with Limewire and downoading some, in the "search" mode, I can no longer see the windwos that formerly came up showing me how many downloads were available for that artist, etc.
(I am running Mac 9.2) Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Default Hi

You can nominate how many search windows you want to keep "alive" in LW>Preferences. Once you have reached the maximum you set, LW will automatically drop one of the hit lists on the basis of first in, first out. Since you need to keep the hit lists for the files you are downloading, use the manual delete (that's the cross in the box shown in each tag) to stay within your maximum.

Thumbs up maybe more help?

Thanks for the help! I am much more adept at downloading etc. now, but I have a very hard time navigating the files to my iTunes Library--it just won't open Limewire to take them.

Know anything about this?

And are you really 91? Awesome....

To save HD space and support the goals of information sharing on LM, this is my solution. Go to iTunes and select Advanced in rhe menu bar. Select convert to mp3, a 'choose object' window will open, navigate to your mp3 folder and convert. Doesn't matter if the music is converted already or not. You will then be able to play your mp3's on iTunes. This works for me.

Smile You ARE a genius...but do you know if.....

Thak you so much for that info. I followed your direction--implicitly--and found all the files, and they are converting as we speak. That alone is great....but since you know iTunes and Mac (thank my lucky stars for that!!), do you happen to know if they will actually BE in my Library, or I gues smore speciafically, my iTunes Music folder? I have managed to get files into the Librar before, but then I deleted them from where I got them, and when I went to play them (or burn them to a CD) I was "told" that altho I could see the tiels, the files had been delted, as they had not been put into iTunes Musc folder (I am still trying to figure out how to get them from Library into that folder).

And thank you SO MUCH again for your help.

Lisa

Additionally I guess what I should have asked--and please forgive the horrible typos--is if the green check next to the song title in iTunes means they are really THERE, as in can they actually be deleted from the (folder on my) HD (that contains them)?

Thanks again.....

See my PM to you on finding your mp3's. The green arrow is telling you that the mp3 was successfully 'converted'. If you see the orange 'sine' wave, it is in the process of conversion.

I don't quite understand what you guys are doing. However, I do know that reconverting mp3 files to mp3 files reduces their quality.

Cool

blackbird

In some cases you are absolutely correct. On the other hand, dependent upon the software you have, you can also improve an mp3. Say a 96 bit rate converted to 192 bit rate setting. It may not be true 192, but the mp3 will be better.

Ah, I c that. I thought you meant reconverting at the same bit rate. That reduces quality.
