Ah--you missed the sticky in the OS X section (the Mac forum is usually for OS ( and earlier questions). Anyway, here's the link to the sticky http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36374 The fix is pretty easy--just one file (receipt) to delete |
Can't install on this volume (null) can't install software on this volume(null) when attempting to install Limewire. Please help |

i tried downloading the java standalone - didn't need it tried to download an earlier version and couldn't get to the page tried to download again same problem i'd rather download the version prior to the new one anyway please help thanks |
We'd be glad to help, but not sure why you haven't deleted the receipt that's causing the problem. The receipt is called ""Install LimeWire.pkg" and is a file in the main library of your hard drive: Quote:
the above quote is taken from the sticky http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36374 and contains more details on the null message, thanks to LOTR |
now it works now it works thank you |
false start it's bouncing bouncing in dock installing latest jum version |
jums are good, but the bouncing reveals a problem with your OS X java that should also be fixed. Sounds like you are using OS X 10.3.9 here's the link to the fix from Apple http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301380 |
installing the JAVA UPDATE hi where does the java update install? it's there , terminal doesn't see it the limewire square opening logo shows but program won't open |
whew--your situation is really odd. Sounds like your OS X really is messed up. What version are you using, and what machine? (forum rules list all the typical info needed to help troubleshoot). Time for a safe boot at least (instructions are in the stickies or search). Java is part of the System/Library, but Iwouldn't toch any of the files there ;) |
reply Power Mac G5- OSX 10.3.9 Machine has a 152.55 gb hd about 2 gb mem 11.27 gb free i have many duplicate files Can you suggest a program to delete the extras? |
more info trying to install LW 4.9.33 |
limewire 4.9.33 just hangs at start up hi limewire 4.9.33 just hangs at startup logo. Java upgrade is installed |
error msg. /Applications/LimeWire/xml.war LAST MODIFIED: 1129422603000 SIZE: 4202 |
hi again more info needed: Click on the desktop, Go to the Go menu, and choose "Utilities" (or just use command-shift-u ) Find "Console", and double-click This will open a window that reports on what happens. Try starting LimeWire again, and copy the lines that show up when LW freezes on the splash screen. Just paste the lines here, or if they seem private, use the PM button at the bottom of this post and I'll see if I can find someone who can interpret them. (btw--I'm also looking for a decent duplicate finder, so let me know if you found a good one) |

I give up :D I really have no idea why your setup is so bizarre. Are you getting your LW installers from the official site at http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml Well, this might be interesting: try this LW installer http://www.mager.org/LimeWire/LimeWire.html |
Megimp .. If your installer is turning into an Excell Document it is probable you are not downloading the installer with Safari. IE cannot download the installer correctly. I only noticed that in your last post.. I haven't been following the Saga closely! Stief. I have a programme called Disk Inventory X from http://www.derlien.com/ No 1 son recomended it to me and I have yet to work out exactly what to do with it, but it may be what you are looking for ... then you can tell me what I can do with it :).. since every time I ask my son I forget to ask him:) |

some of it Your java is not working (google "buckyball") Shut down, wait two minutes, restart, then as soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the shift key. Once you see the grey spinning cog, you can let go. This is called "Safe Boot mode" and will do a file system repair and check. Then run Software Update from the Apple Menu. Repeat until software update says you are up to date, and don't do anything else until complete. Then run Disk Utility (in your Utilities folder), click on the hard drive icon in Disk Utilities list, and select Repair Permissions. Let it run and don't worry about a dozen or so messages printed there. Do another safe boot Do a regular restart Delete all LimeWire folders, installers, and then go to http://www.mager.org/LimeWire/LimeWire.html and use the http link to download the LimeWire CVS build (4.9.32jum433) with Safari Open the .dmg and follow the instructions. It should work now. [Hobo--that DIX program is rather neat, but not for removing duplicates. Thanks to your son for the link; sounds like an intereting developer] |
file removal programs hi I decidfd to spend $54 for Spring Cleaning 7.0 from Allume makers of Stuffit Deluxe. it's for the Mac . Apple will sell it to you for $54. and some change |
