Limewire kills internet connection

OSX 10.4.6: Limewire 4.10 opens and the incomplete cued items begin looking for sources then the internet connection is lost. I have to unplug the Bellsouth Westel DSL modem and the belkin wireless router to reset the connection. This just started this week. Until just a few days ago this had never been an issue. There are 2-3 other machines on this LAN with Limewire and they don't kill the internet connection. However this is the machine that has the heavieset Limewire activity. What would make Limewire completely kill the network connection. None of the other machines can connect or loose connection at the same time. Once the modem and router are reset the other machines have great connectivity and so does the problem machine; until we open limewire.

Hello:

I read your post. Do you solve your problem?

I have a similar issue; I have a router SMC connected to anohter router 2WIRE (DSL Connection). I need to restart the SMC router.

I will try with only one router (2Wire), but probably is a LIMEWIRE problem.

What do you think?

Just a side-comment, AFAIK the Westell & 2Wire are not the most reliable devices. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?

For Tiger, make sure you're using Java 1.5; ie: Setting up Java 1.5

This may help: Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue!

For OSX, it's best not to share more than about 2,000 files. I sometimes share more but it does eat up the VM & RAM because mac's java is not especially efficient. Too many incomplete files has the same or even much worse effect!

When you open LW, let it settle before using. You might want to disable Ultrapeer mode (found under Speed settings.) Also reducing both upload & downld bandwidth slightly might also help.
