There are some of us that are unfortunate enough to be behind very intelligent firewalls and packet shapers. Going to school in the CSU system in California I'm one of them. The only people we can connect to are hosts inside our own network. For people like us it would be nice if LimeWire wouldn't even bother connecting to outside IPs. You can just specify a range and it would attempt to connect to hosts in that range. I have to wait for a hour sometimes while outside addresses whizz by for the one of two addresses that are on my campus. It's not fun

Check out LimeWire->Preferences->Filters->Hosts. Is this what you are looking for?

Salut York, I think you are right today!
I agree an option to only connect to lan clients would be REALLY nice. I also agree that we should be able to chat to ultrapeers, and that LW should not stop to connect when the connection is offline (the other clients like Kazaa, shareaza continue and it works great with modems that disconnect you a couple of minutes before returning online....LW would not hammering hosts since the connection is offline) Merci |
