When a particular download says "Needs more sources", there should be an option for LW to keep searching again automatically.

Lw used to have that function in the earlier versions. Force resume basically has the same effect. Problem is, if everybody's system was continually sending out search requests for every file they had (every few mins) that wasn't connected then the Gnutella system would simply overload & slow down to a particularly low rate - even for high bandwidth users! That's one of the main reasons this option was taken out (to my understanding). There's at least one other p2p app that has since b/come almost obsolete b/c it tended to overload the netwk. And most likely this option would not be re-introduced. As it is the netwk is about to expand with other p2p netwks to make it even larger than present!
