i think that's prolly because its using java instead of c so it doesnt get 'automatically' configured to scroll using the mouse wheel... i dunno... any ideas? |

Salut, if you use java 1.3, no scroll wheel for you. However Java 1.4 and 1.5 are supporting it. If you want LW to have scroll wheel support dl java 1.5 at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp Download the JRE not the SDK. Uninstall your current java then install 1.5. Start LW and voilà!!! Scroll support. Bonne chance

Java 1.5 But LW Pro still using 1.3 Dear LW People I have just downloaded and installed Java 1.5 and, like V1.4.x before it, my LW Pro V4.0.8 seems to completely ignore the latest Java applet and continues to use V1.3, the Java applet it came with. And before anyone suggests it, I did close down LW Pro before installing Java 1.5 and I rebooted my PC afterwards. I then checked the installation, within Control Panel, to ensure V1.5 was properly installed and working. Only then did I restart LW Pro and check to see that it picked up the new installation, as you can see from the attached screen print it has not. Also, I do not have Java V1.3 installed on my PC, not directly anyway, that came with the default installation of LW Pro. My request is this; there should be a manual facility, within “Options”, to direct LW to latest Java installation. For example, my installation of Java is on C:\Program Files\Java\Java\jre1.5.0 but I do not have any way of telling this to LW Pro or asking it to do a new search. Unless I have missed something, all that I can say is that automatic find functions are good if they work as intended or have some sort of manual override function to be employed if they do not. Therefore, lets have a manual Java configuration facility so that users can point LW Pro to the folder/directory where the latest Java applet is installed. UK Bob |

Use the "English" LimeWire instead of the international one. In order to ensure that the JRE supports international characters, the international installer installs its own JRE (1.3). The English one will use whatever is on the system. |

LimeWire International cannot use latest Java applet Dear sberlin Thanks for your reply but it has delivered somewhat of a shock to my system, back in May when you helped me with my “Tools>Options & Buttons” problem I then asked about getting LimeWire Pro to use the latest installation of Java on my system, this was your reply: Quote:
What I find so shocking is that the International version of LimeWire Pro has been recommended in this forum, over the English version, time and time again. However, you are now saying that if I want to use the latest Java applet, with the extra facilities that it brings, I will have to install the English version because the International version will only ever use Java V1.3, the applet that is part of it’s installation. Sberlin, in all honesty, don’t you think this bug, i.e. the International version not being able to use any other Java applet other than the one it came with, as something that urgently requires attention?
