Two things.

1. I think when you upload a file, it should be sent to the LimeWire's server, preventing a download that 'needs more sources'.

2. LimeWire should be able to Burn CD's, it would make things soo much simpler..

Sorry.. 3 things..

3. LimeWire should be able to determine your connection speed.. Some people are like modem speed but say they are T3..

Linuxhippy June 9th, 2005 10:28 PM

Hmm...

1.) There is no LimeWire server, servers are always evil since they can be easily shut down.

2.) Programs that were designed to do everything always failed since they got bloated and buggy.
Limewire is a very good p2p program, not a media player and not a cd-burner.

Well.. it already is a Media Player because it plays the music you download.. It would be nice if it could burn CD's.. I guess your right about the server thing too...

kc0rkx_finch June 20th, 2005 10:21 AM

I totally agree on the detection of speed dude

I have tried to listen with the Limewire Audio player. The sound was horrid and any number of other, better players can be chosen as default. Limewire should concentrate efforts on improving an excellent application, and not adding things on that are well produced elsewhere and reasonably easy to hook up to.

I too agree about the speed ... but have a sneaky feeling that some people with good speeds say they have modems ..... no idea why <G>

I won't take LimeWire seriously before it's able to brew coffee at the very least. Isn't it written in Java after all?

You're not imagining things. I hate when people do that. It's to scare off people from downloading from them to free up bandwidth.

LW could easilly "rate" your connection speed by constantly analysing your up/down-load rate while you are online and then reporting it as a numeric value, then you'd know what a users "true speed" is and how long a download will take (a very busy T3 can take longer than an idle modem).

kc0rkx_finch June 23rd, 2005 12:14 PM

Instead of speed (dsl/cable,t3,t1) it could be reported as a numeric ping value instead. There is no way to lie on that really b/c LW would have to automatically assert it.

I_Have_No_Account June 23rd, 2005 12:48 PM

I give you a hint: Bandwidth and round-trip-time are completely different parameters. Both dependent on the involved hosts and the current network load. So the "ping" is fairly useless.

I dont care about the speed thing. I try the download, if the speed sucks, I cancel, If it's good, I keep dling

NarutoBoy July 4th, 2005 10:24 PM

well.. look at Warez.. It can Rip songs off of a CD.. developing CD burning.. it also has a web browser built into it.. It still works..

I also would like the ability to show Whats playing in MSN.. Like WMP and the like...

NarutoBoy July 6th, 2005 08:33 PM

Not really, I think it would be a good Idea, although I posted about Burning CDs and the like, those I dont really care about. What I really want is the thing that shows Whats Playing in MSN.
I dont like Warez though. Its rather crap compared to LimeWire.

I also think they should make LimeWires Sound alot better by either enhancing it or By making an equalizer Under the Song bar. Only A little one though. Raise up the bar for that section and add one..

Also, you should be able to see your true speed under the Connection quality.

Those would be some useful features..

And yes, I agree. Servers are evil. I do not know what I was thinking when I said that.

NarutoBoy July 15th, 2005 10:05 PM

I dont care about the other things! just the Whats playing in MSN!

Greasy July 17th, 2005 07:33 PM

Dude, having all that stuff is what slows programs down, just deal with it you lazy *******.

NarutoBoy July 20th, 2005 08:53 PM

shut up.. all I want is that one thing. Thats all.. but its optional.. its not like Im gunna quit using LimeWire just because they dont make that feature.. it would just be nice tho..

Quiting LimeWire is like.. plain old stupid.
