1. I think when you upload a file, it should be sent to the LimeWire's server, preventing a download that 'needs more sources'.
2. LimeWire should be able to Burn CD's, it would make things soo much simpler.. Sorry.. 3 things.. 3. LimeWire should be able to determine your connection speed.. Some people are like modem speed but say they are T3.. Last edited by NarutoBoy; June 9th, 2005 at 05:23 PM. |

1.) There is no LimeWire server, servers are always evil since they can be easily shut down.
2.) Programs that were designed to do everything always failed since they got bloated and buggy. Limewire is a very good p2p program, not a media player and not a cd-burner. lg Clemens |

Well.. it already is a Media Player because it plays the music you download.. It would be nice if it could burn CD's.. I guess your right about the server thing too...

I too agree about the speed ... but have a sneaky feeling that some people with good speeds say they have modems ..... no idea why <G> |

I won't take LimeWire seriously before it's able to brew coffee at the very least. Isn't it written in Java after all?

LW could easilly "rate" your connection speed by constantly analysing your up/down-load rate while you are online and then reporting it as a numeric value, then you'd know what a users "true speed" is and how long a download will take (a very busy T3 can take longer than an idle modem). |

Instead of speed (dsl/cable,t3,t1) it could be reported as a numeric ping value instead. There is no way to lie on that really b/c LW would have to automatically assert it.

I give you a hint: Bandwidth and round-trip-time are completely different parameters. Both dependent on the involved hosts and the current network load. So the "ping" is fairly useless.

I dont care about the speed thing. I try the download, if the speed sucks, I cancel, If it's good, I keep dling
