Lightbulb memorization of search-words

It is a pity that every time limewire is starting up again, i have to type the search words of possibly 20 keywords which found no result last time!
Why does such a simple feature not exist in limewire: remember my previous searches!

Thanx for your suggestions!

PS: another p2p program for mac named "nicotine", on the soulseek network, is obviously able to remember searches... but I dont know yet how to make nicotine work properly - on mac os x 10.4 at least, it requires the X11 feature installed, from the mac os x installation cd).

Default Nicotine, Phex, Frostwire?? Best results?

Thank you for your reply, Mr. Only A Hobo!

Do you know how to use this p2p Nicotine program, it appears a bit strange to me, since I am not used to this sub-platform using X11 on mac os x 10.4 (unix or linux?)?

Or do you instead recommend to try those other p2p programs (for mac?) that you are listing like Phex and Frostwire, which I have never heard of?

Obviously friends having PC's with Emule, or other popular p2p programs (for PC) get many more results than me on mac with limewire pro!
Are those other p2p programs using another network than gnutella?

Got download links?

Thanx! :-)

jmb I know nothing of Nicotine, but have been tempted to look at Poisoned when I get round to it. ( nice names eh!) Nor do I quite know what X11 is all about.

I guess you know this site which supplies Poisoned also. http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Interne...Nicotine.shtml

Reading a bit on Nicotine, it appears to be a dubious application for Panther, which rules me out. I also notice it works on Soul-Seek Network, which is an unknown quantity to me. Poisoned on the other hand will operate on different networks, and AFAIK if the only ... or certainly one of very few ... mac applications to do this.

Limewire is under a certain ammount of pressure to introduce a block on copyrighted files, and for this reason Frostwire has been introduced. It is currently identical to Limewire to all intents and purposes. It will remain free of restrictions however if and when Limewire introduces them.
www.frostwire.com

Phex is a nice application, a bit more complicated to use, but like Limewire/Frostwire, a Java based Gnutella network client. http://phex.kouk.de/index2.php
It seems to me to access areas of the network that Limewire does not and so using the two I get a pretty good search field for rarer files.

In conclusion, I think Poisoned must be worth a try.

Lightbulb

I just create a notepad document with a list of common keywords I want to search for on a regular basis. Or even when limewire isn't running and I want to search for something I write a list that I want to search for. So when I start I just highlight the keyword in notepad CTRL-C (copy) then CTRL-V (paste) into the search window as I have limewire and the notepad windows side by side. I can get a dozen in 30 seconds. That's my method.
I do that more for remembering what I want to search for. I'm not that lazy that I can't type.

Good idea Morb

Still though, I would prefer if LW had a "Save" function, like a word processor, where you could save your best search terms.

Default Hollywood poisoned...

Good-good, let's get poisoned! And see if we will survive!
Could be interesting if Phex is accessing areas of the Gnutella network that Limewire isn't...

Limewire is maybe getting to selfcensor its great research tool getting culture a bit more democratic, even though there are new ways be found to make those many great artist make a living of their art.

In some culture-friendly countries like France, the VAT on cultural products is lowered to give access to most people. I think that it's a shame when books, cd's, Dvd's, film-tickets have such high tax rates!
I don't like the idea of giving access to culture and information only a richer elite. But most commonly the raw truth...

I have heard of the Soulseek network (which should be accessible with Nicotine on mac)... where you can give priviledged access to friends around the world, so they can download from your database quicker than the other peers. But Nicotine's interface is a bit complicated for me.

And talking about the popular p2p for PC, Emule & Edonkey, I just looked through the free web encyclopedia, http://www.wikipedia.org/
and found out that a version for mac is available! It is called Amule, and seems to be equipped with many more complex control options than Limewire, and also the "Buddy" privilege option. Maybe worth a try! http://www.amule.org/

I will try to find those rare files I cant find on Limewire. Usually vintage files, much more difficult to find than the last Hollywood **** that everybody eats with popcorn, and flushes away in the toilet next day.
Consumption, sometimes entertainment... Rarely art. At least not from the tired cliché Hollywood machine.

Cheers! ;-)
