As with most broadband connections my upstream bandwith is relatively small. I would be happy to increase my upstream bandwidth so others can enjoy my files, however, I must leave most of my upstream bandwith free for my VoIP lines. I would like to have a feature whereby I can specify different upstream bandwidths for different times of day. That way I could open it up during the late night / early morning, and keep my bandwidth free for voice calls during the day.
Some routers have QoS features that might be able to give the voice traffic priority over other traffic. But my router does not have such a feature, and I don't know how well that feature acctually works on those routers that do have it. My router can restrict activity on certain ports based on time, however I've had mixed luck with this. |
