It depends on whether you try to not download viruses or not. Don't download programs or games, that includes zip files that just happen to be exactly what you are looking for. Look at filesize. The the file seems too small then it really isn't what you are looking for. And last but not least, use common sense when looking at the search results.
Also you might want to read the stickies in the Limewire section, the ones pertaining to the network that is. |

There isn't any p2p filesharing program which is safe, since in decentral p2p, noone can control what people share.
As far as we know, Phex itself doesn't facilitate spreading virusses, but as Sleepless said: When you download somethign which contains a virus and then open it, you get one. Best make sure, that you have a decent virus scanner with updated virus definitions. And scan every file you download before opening it.

Is Phex safe ?
Not at all ! Why do you think one of us is called Sleepless ? I went to bed at 4 this morning cuz I was having fun with Phex ! Who knows what Sleepless was up to ? Definitely bad for your health !

Phex is exactly as safe as LimeWire - which isn't safe either
There is not much "safe" filesharing around...

Well, i think Phex is (at least a little) safer then Limewire/Frostwire, because i get ALOT LESS fake search-results when i'm using Phex.
My PC is online 24/7, my Phex is running 24/7 too... i have a (forced) Ultrapeer status, and when i search for something i get almost NO fake-results! When "safe" means LESS FAKE search-results, then i say: Yes, Phex is more safe then Limewire/Frostwire! But my Phex is a Ultrapeer, so maybe that makes the difference? I would say: try it yourself
