Do we need JRE 1.4.0 if we already have 1.3.1 ? The LimeWire Pro Download Page now states: LimeWire Performance Enhancement (Win & Linux only) We encourage Windows and Linux users to download the JRE for faster operation and performance enhancement. Important: Before you install the enhancement, you must install LimeWire first. LimeWire Performance Enhancement (Win & Linux only) I thought LW always required JRE (and probably installs it or links to it during install if not found). Anyway I have JRE 1.3.1 (you can check via ControlPanel) Does 1.4.0 offer an advantage? I don't want to install it for nothing, since 1.3.1 does not seem broke to me. --- That note on the DL page it vague and unclear. --- |
Well, as LimeWire states on its website, - the JRE 1.4 allows LimeWire to increase performance. |
and 1.4.0 has support for the mouse wheel :) |
Ahhh, the Wheel mouse did indeed work. That alone is a reason to go to 1.4.0. It would have been nice if someone at LW spent the 3 minutes and wrote a quick list of compelling improvements with 1.4.0. (and No thanks to Taliban's reply) |
