Default Do we need JRE 1.4.0 if we already have 1.3.1 ?

The LimeWire Pro Download Page now states:

LimeWire Performance Enhancement (Win & Linux only)

We encourage Windows and Linux users to download the JRE for faster operation and performance enhancement.
Important: Before you install the enhancement, you must install LimeWire first. LimeWire Performance Enhancement (Win & Linux only)

I thought LW always required JRE (and probably installs it or links to it during install if not found).

Anyway I have JRE 1.3.1 (you can check via ControlPanel)

Does 1.4.0 offer an advantage? I don't want to install it for nothing, since 1.3.1 does not seem broke to me.

That note on the DL page it vague and unclear.
