How can you tell if a file (ex: song) is copyrighted.....does it tell you somewhere? Please HELP!

What about the US? I have no clue about this, please don't be angry with me for asking. sooooo........clueless am I

If you see it on MTV or hear it on the radio, you can be pretty sure that it's copyright. Don't really know of a better answer ;)

ty. But I'm still a little confused, what is the safest way to use lw.....but not get caught? Would it be to not share files, or to use certain safety softwares? I just need some answers........thanks though to sleepless

Take a look at the links on Lord of the Rings post (10-2004.) I'd say that if it's copyrighted, you share it (copy a book, movie, tape, dvd, etc.) and you don't have a license, you could get in $$ trouble. LW can be set to download only licensed material. (Tools > Options > Searching > Basic > License Warning )

I hate to lower the tone of you wonderful law abiding citizens, but the music industry has been ripping off its customers and artists for decades, in my opinion they are only getting what they deserve, of course 2 wrongs dont make a right, but if people can get it cheaper or free with little risk then guess what???

LimeWire is illegal as long as u abuse it!

first of all ... learn to ****** type in ENGLISH. i didn't get a ****** word u just said. second of all, limewire only becomes illegal if people start to abuse it. If u download about 200 songs a day, and u got like 15,000 in ur library. chances are, the feds are gonna crack down. but if u only have like 200 in ur library and ur not a "chronic" downloader, chances are, they wont even find u in the first place.

It all comes down to whether ur I.P. address is constantly being exposed or not. If its the middle of the night and ur comp is still downloading, ur I.P. is gonna be exposed while everyone else's isn't. thats the only thing u should watch out for. To have ur computer off at night so that ur IP address doesn't get tracked.

anywho, limewire isn't illegal as long as u dont abuse and not get caught. ;P

Besides that, you seem not to know what you're talking about......
Already the download of a single file protected by copyright laws is illigal.
The question whether you will be caught or not (by keeping your pc running over night or in the day), is something no-one can predict under any circumstances. Whether to take a risk or not is up to every person's own decision.

So, why don't you calm down a bit and when you try to give your opinion or to help someone use the languae your mother has taught to you. ;)

erm ... I couldn't be bothered reading thru all that! Hey it's late for me! I share several hours of my own bands' music. There is no copyright requirements there even for "covers" since there's no income being made & no broadcast. Hail sharing non-copyright material. Make your own. lol :D (different countries have different copyright laws!)
