topology Hi there, I have no idea whether this is the right place for my question. I am not at all experienced with the Gnutella stuff, but very interested in the distributed aspects of the project. a) Does anybody know the present topolgy (or the topology at a former point of time) of the Gnutella network? Does anywhere exist a map which shows nodes (anonymously) and edjes? b) How can the Gnutella net consist of more than 200000 nodes, when the degree of a node is restricted to 10000 or so, but when at the same time a new client gets a boundle of links when connecting to the network? Or are the peer-to-peer links uni-directional? Ulf |

I didnt understand the second question but I can answer you the first: Its hard to map the entire gnutella network because there's no central point where all nodes report to, but there's a mapping project launched by Gnucleus. On their homepage you can see some grafix (maps) of the P2P net: http://www.gnucleus.com/research/mapping.html |
