![]() Okay I'm running Limewire and I am behind a IP masking utility with my ISP (ie my IP is a subnet 10.*.*.*, which is routed to some dynamic IP on the web). Now unfortunately they also have us on Dynamic IP's so I set up a dynamic name host to monitor my IP everytime I log onto the network and return a DNS name entry. What I'm wondering is if Gnutella (or more importantly Limewire) will resolve this into my present IP or if it will drop the connections people try to make to me. I want to essentially know wether I can leave the static name in the box for where to push info to or if I need to change it so it lists my real dynamic IP? Thanks for any info. |

![]() Can you accept incoming connections? If so, there should be no problems. Are you saying that you need to force your IP to a different value? If that IP is dynamic, then you would need to do it each time right now. |

![]() Sorry, I re-read the last post and it's confusing as hell. Essentially, yes I have a dynamic IP going to the internet. But I went out to dns2go.com and picked up a program that maps my dynamic IP to a static name. (ie my IP 142.165.*.* is mapped to "somename.dns2go.com") So all I am wondering is if I type "somename.dns2go.com" into the box on Limewire that says "Force IP" will limewire do the dns look-up or do I have to make sure that I change the IP in that box everytime my IP changes? |
