Corrupt Files

I AM NEW TO LIMEWIRE. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY EVERY TIME I GET NEAR THE END OF A FILE IT TELLS ME IT IS CORRUPT? WHY DO THESE FILES TAKE SO LONG? I AM USING A CABLE MODEM.
