Illegal Porn

Hi there,

I was just doing a search for porn on the LimeWire and am deeply disturbed about the amount of Kiddie, Lolita and Child porn that comes up on the display in the search results. Is there anything that can be done about it?

The IP addresses of the offenders are available. Isn't there a way this can be chased up with variou police forces?

Knowing that this stuff is out there is ruining my otherwise fun search for adult entertainment.

Cheers,

Sean (unregistered)

You can report these IP's to the authorities, but first you have to make sure that the name is really what it states it is. Almost all of those sorts of files have very misinforming titles. But by makeing sure that they are what they say they are you also are violateing the law... However you can block certain key words in LW settings. To filter out the key words that depict illegal content run LW, and go to tools>options>filters>keywords and just add the words you want filtered out. Good luck.

Thanks for the info on filtering but that is not at all a viable option in the real world (hiding my eyes from the crime doesn't make the crime go away)...

Of course the people committing the abuse are more dangerous criminals than those that share files but tackling the sharing of files might help trace the problem to it's source?

I think what is perhaps more important is for the file-sharing community to come up with some kind of plan or stratey to tackle the problems of shared kiddie porn and child abuse. If there was a registry of IP addresses that could be verified to contain the porn, that might be a start.

Yes, people make mistakes with what they accidentally download, but if resources and time are put into stamping out the problem then that has to be a good thing...

cheers,

sean

You see, the problem with creating a regrestry of the IP's is that their IP's change every time they log on to the internet. But like Peerless said, a lot of files are misnamed. There's not much more you can do about them appart from reporting the sharer's of these files, and just simply ignoreing them all together. Good luck.

I noticed that a lot of the files were in fact not teens or children but i have found this one file called 9yo littlegirl displays her *bleep* i saw the first 4 seconds of it and i have deleted it from my pc because it seemed to really be just children anyway it would be appreciated if someone would find out if it is so as to get rid of it and have whoever has it arrested? I think it's sick and distatefull and it should be removed by the owners of the site. Thank You. (May i add illegal?)

Well actually i would like to point out that the government in my country will be passing a law that will not only force servers and providers to make sure it doesnt get in or they will also be found responsible and will be imported for this. And i dont't need a girl friend i have a boyfriend(i'm a girl) and he's expensive enough thanks.

question

hello everybody,

could you please let me know if it's illegal to share private porn pics (pics I've taken with my girlfriend)? I've been sharing my porn pics through Limewire for a while now under the name edited...no private info..read the rulez (plus requested photoshoots for various people I meet through Limewire, for free of course) but after I read this thread I started getting anxious. Could you please let me know...

Just to let you know I'm completely against kiddie porn, my g/f is 25 years old and I only do it because of the hype it gives me and my online mates.

thanks

Whatever dude. I guess as long as you both are of age it's legal. You should probably find out the legalities of shareing your files before you do it, shoulden't you?

THAT'S THE FUNNIEST THING I'VE HEARD ALL DAY !!!! You and I have GOT to hang out, bro! Let's have a family.

Anyway people, PLEASE STOP WORRYING ABOUT THE KIDDIE PORN! The world is a sh**ty place. Are you just now realizing this? I'm here to download music but when something flashes across my screen that says "little boy with a **** in his mouth" I ignore it, just like I try not to think about the 6 o'clock news and all the people who get killed in car wrecks each day and all the people who are starving and all the people hooked on crack and all the people who commit suicide EACH SECOND OF THE DAY AS WE SPEAK. I mean I'm one of the biggest sensitive sissies I know but PLEASE, show a little backbone! If you can't stand seeing what's on other peoples' computers and what "different" people search for when they're bored then why are you here? I'm not trying to get on anyone's case. I mean I love ya, homeys, I really do. But for your own sake, lighten up, because the world is a huge s*** sandwich. It's not like by getting free music we're saving the world, so let's not look a gift horse in the mouth!

I realize my griping about people griping may seem hypocritical, but my end justifies my means. My end is, of course, self-amusement. Try it some time!

Love ya guys, all of you!

Great answer! Like it. But there's a tad more to it i think. Such as porn sites & such targeting LW popular searches; ie: having the identical name as the search criteria. When it's a deliberate attempt to reach our bandwidths, I think it's an issue. It's an issue obviously b/c it's spamming up our searches & reducing our quality searches, & there's people out there (young & old) who are greatly humiliated & distressed by it.
I posted a question on the following thread (post 2) with a good answer called 'Quality of Content on the Network' in ref to this (post 6).

Porno

Dear Lord,

I started to read that thread and I wanna finish and get back to you when I have more time. I don't wanna ... make a fool of myself (?).

I realize the issue is more serious and deep than I let on - it's just one of my hobbies is bitching about people bitching!

:o)

People who comment on threads that are over three years old.

Charles16961 August 17th, 2007 04:53 AM

Tell me about the kiddie porn. It seems no mater what you type in for videos you get someting that could be labeled. And like it has been said. It often missed labeled. And you could get put in jail for looking for pictures of dogs!

Hey now.

^ As mostly already said (*This should be a sticky topic all it's own - I see it everywhere on P2P forums, etc) - Get over it. Ignorance is bliss, and your governments, societies and religions all take heart to those facts. My belief is currently as thus:

1) All of the aforementioned "powers that be" have their hands in EVERYTHING. They already KNOW everything about anything.

2) If you KNOW about something, it's because THEY let you find out. THEY want you to know certain things - to condition people into acceptance.

3) Even if you're "against" something - that's fine - everybody has their own views - ON EVERYTHING.

4) It's just sex. If there have been a few things since the dawning of mankind it's WAR and SEX. It's always going to be there.

5) So, if ignorance is bliss, and you don't want to see it, then it doesn't have to be there for you. Just ignore it - because to you - you don't believe in it, therefore it doesn't exist - right?!

6) *Warning: Long & Drawn out for in-depth analysis:
More of something I'll never understand, is the fact that people don't seem to want to differenciate between sex and ****. There are many defining factors in that. Also, why condemn somebody for wanting or having sex with somebody (reguardless of any factor) - which is mostly used for pleasure or reproducing - over and beyond what's called for as say opposed to murderers and rapists? Why should anybody involved in consentual and plutonic situations be accused of "crime"? As such, why do I hardly hear many complaints about servered heads and limbs being sold on the blackmarket and such stuff as that? It's quite sad to compare sex - a pleasure device as it were, to torture and murder and abuse. Alas, I think I already know the answer to that query - WAR's been around just as long - it's been always acceptable to mame and murder, and still is (at least MORE acceptable than other things), and will continue to be apparently at least hundreds of years on. Becuase that's what the "powers that be" want and are getting. Like it or not, I'm sure sex will progress along the same path, as that's what many (though currently in closets until socially acceptable - no matter how long the wait) want.

^ That is my 3rd person perspective on the whole "fiasco". That's just how I can see it from looking outside-in.

TheFakeSheikh January 9th, 2009 07:30 PM

Not an insult (no need to ban me), just a statement

drjustian October 29th, 2009 09:37 PM

I checked out the Limewire stuff and its virtually all, as for as I know completely all advertisements. No kiddie porn, lolita or anything. Of course, I was doing research, like all the rest of us I guess. But, if no one looks, it's there without objection. So, look, do some "research" and let the IP or someone know what you found. It's not illegal to look, it is illegal to download...it's called 'manufacturing child pornography'.

Lord of the Rings October 29th, 2009 10:18 PM

It's certainly out there. If not wish to come across it of course using keyword filters goes a long way to blocking most out of search results. Keyword & extension filter words to Add also blocks out a certain % of the general spam, porn, etc. depending on how much you wish to filter out. :)

If child porn is out there, there is also obviously a demand for it, which is sad but a fact of life. O.o Trying to reduce the demand would help of course, however that can be done.

drjustian October 30th, 2009 04:34 AM

Kiddie

Yes. The US Supreme Court has addressed the matter saying, in effect, "We can't define porn, per se, but we know it when we see it". Though it is obvious to most people that something is child porn, a significant (statistically more than 10% but a percentage that is unknown) per centage of us would disagree. Hence, there are sites that 'poses' little girls (and boys too) up to pre-teen years in various states of skin (no nude) in provocative ways. And...it's legal. Society can crack down, but at what cost...Benjamin Franklin's quote about the balance of security and freedom has historically been correct. The more security, even for children who don't know what happening to them while they're in front of the camera, the less freedom. Some would argue, less freedom equates to less creativity and a chilling effect on art, including movies, paintings, sculptures and photography not intended to be provacative. I feel like such a blowhard and I don't intend to be, but I guess I have that freedom too...
