I have purchased LW Pro and I don't see any difference?????? |
Well im sure there is, it is not noticeable enough though, lol.. sorry im no help ;) |
akustika, If you don't have a 4.12.11 Pro installer saved, you'll lose that version if you install the basic 4.14.8;) A few people have had problems with the latest version, but then that's bound to happen when a new version's released! Have a read through the different forum sections & see what people have to say about 4.14.8. I'm using it & haven't had any problems so far. The new version has torrent support. vautoub, Pro lets you connect to a few more hosts (eg 14 if you have a T3 connection) so the potential for faster downloads is there. Pro connects you to 5 ultrapeers, compared to basic's 3...so the potential for better search results is there. Whether or not you see much difference between basic & Pro depends a bit on what kind of files you're looking for as well...lots of people say that you'll see more of a difference if you're searching for rarer files. |
Benchmark Thanks for the info. One question, is there an optimal performance with regard to download speed. Some sort of benchmark, so I can tell if I am getting the best from LW and my cable connection? The reason I ask is if I keep changing settings they will get worse or better but how can I tell when I hit the jackpot? Also I run a small program from windows sidebar called network meter V2.1 which has a tiny display that sits on my desktop telling me my DL and UL speeds and it never goes above 250KB. When I start LW my download speed always starts at this speed then over a few hours will gradually reduce to less than half that. Any input will be gratefully recieved. Stew |
Ok guys, I called Roadrunner and did the online test @ Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test and my speeds were at: Download- 8139 kb/s Upload- 796 kb/s Distance- 50 miles from server So then i went to Bit and Byte Conversion and i came up with: Dowload- 1017.375 KB/s Upload- 99.5 KB/s They I went back to Limewire and the highest setting is 43.31KB/s. So why won't it let me go any higher??? I'm sure I made a mistake somewhere. Can yall pleeeeeaseeee help me? Thanks Robert |
ok..so i have a major issue here...firstly,let me start from the beginning.on numerous times,i've read over and over again about limewire users( basic and PRO)on the internet, claiming that they can connect to 20-30 hosts and downloading speed between 90-500kbps no matter where they are(location/country).well,i wish i could say the same.they are happy,i'm not.i've been using limewire for two years now and all i get is maximum 10 hosts and speed up to 15kbps(on a good day somore!!)i've been putting up with that for a long time but i can't take it anymote.i use limewire mostly to download movies and songs..and i have to wait for days before it completes which can be very frusterating if you don't have anything else to do meanwhilea year ago,i purchased limewire PRO,but still that didn't make a difference.recently,i got myself a wireless router and a adsl modem.i installed limewire on my laptop.well, the speed improved a bit, from 15kbps to 39kbps.but i'm still not satisfied.i've done my part of trying every tips there is out there but none have worked for me so far.i've tried the T3,Four Star results only tips but no avail.i mean i'm happy that the speed has gone up now,but it must be because of the router and maybe limewire seem to work better when used wirelessly.could that be true? but what i really want to know or solve is,how can i get those much talked about speed i mentioned above??could it be that i'm just unlucky or maybe i've not configured limewire to work at optimal performance?if there is a way, could someone tell me how?the someones that claim they download at tremendous speed?lastly,i've susbscriped to my local ISP package which is 1.0Mbps..maybe that is the root of all my limewire problem? anyway thanks alot for the help in advance..i hope i get a reply soon..i need a solution, not suggestions or tips anymore.. |
im a new bee to the forum and not very pc literate, i understand what was written and how to change the bandwidth, why change sumthing if it's working? why worry if it takes a little longer to download as long as you get it (ps, understanding how to change the bandwidth and being able to do it is another story) |
I found in my lastest download that it had come from youtube, is it possible to take video files from youtube and put them into limewire? |
wdupz...i have verizon fios w/ lw pro...i did a speed test...i dont see these speed on the options of lw, and my dl time on lw only go up to 30, but i know it can go faster...ne advice? Then go to Tools>Options>Downloads, and set the d/load bandwidth to 100% Unlimited, click apply. Then go to Tools>Options>Uploads>Basic, and set the upload bandwidth to about 150KBs or whatever speed allows you to still use the internet without too much lag, click apply. You may need to experiment a little to get things just right ;). |
