What? You just put Norton Antivirus in, right? If it so, then you don't need to configure anything. Antivirus programs are not firewalls.
If you put Norton Internet security, then you've also put in the firewall. You'll need to configure that. Same goes if you just put Norton firewall in.

And looks to me as if you should start looking for a real computer "guy" (or a computer-knowledgable friend). The one you're going to sounds more like a computer scamer

Alright, after speed-reading it looks like your computer is pretty messed up. So, you may want to do a clean install. You may want to get a computer guy (a real one) to do this for you, or read the user manual to find out how to change the boot priority to an optical drive, the rest of the installation procedure is pretty self explanitory. Ater you have reinstalled you need an anti-virus program, and I highly reccomend a firewall (other than the "firewall" our buddy Bill has given us in XP). For the AV (Anti-Virus) I reccomend Norton's products, I use System Works. And for the firewall I reccomend ZoneAlarm Pro, although I have heard that its TCP filter cause people headaches, so you may want to do some reasearch. That's about it. Good luck.

If your friend is so greedy he should know that you can prevent an infection if you scan the files BEFORE you open them. It also depends which files you download, MP3 are safe, if you download pics donīt touch JPEGs all other should be safe. Beware from .exe files!!! Scan them before you open them.

Keep your Anti-Virus software updated at least every two weeks better every week.

Finally its not a good idea to post your eMail on a public forum, some idiots could sent you a virus through it.

The best protection is knowledge. :)

This firewall is free for private use and very easy to set up for newbies.

If you log in with your user name, every registered user can send you an email. The advantage is that nobody can attach anything so there is no way to get a virus, this protects you also from spam mails.
