Question burning movies

I need help and not just mentally. I have downloaded movies in avi form but when I want to put them onto dvd to watch on my player none of my progs recognise the format. Does anybody have any ideas?

Unhappy I'm battling this also

I finally got 1 movie onto a dvd+rw and it will play on my pc but my dvdplayer/recorder wont take it ..it says it will play dvd-ram and maybe dvd-r The other dvd player will only recognize dvd+r..it wont play the dvd+rw....

each had different variations to play...meaning dvd-r...dvd+r
first I have to learn what dvd disc will play on my tv

then i have to learn to shrink the movie to fit on the appropriate dvd...
sometimes i think it's just better to watch the movie on the pc and thats it...

I'm having the same problem!! Have converted the .avi files into the correct format (apparently) to play on home player, have got a film here from someone else that plays on the home player (same disks as I've got being DVD-R, so I know my home player must play them) but it doesn't seem to like the films I've burnt on the same format disk?????????? Am I doing something wrong during the converting/burning process???

Default burning dvd's...movies

Well today i'm going to buy both dvd-r and dvd+r discs...

They are supposedly compatible with both of my brand new dvd recorder/players....

I'm going to try and burn a movie on each from the dvd+rw and see what happens..

We have been discussing this for 2 pages under dvd movies wont burn or something like that...

if you need history...

Default burning dvd's...movies

OK LOTR I'm back after working on this for the weekend...

Step 1...I checked both brand new DVDplayer recorders and there is no switch to convert....never heard of pal here...but I will check the remote menu...good idea...

Step 2... I reburned AND closed the dvd's ....onto dvd+r as per the dvd/player (can play these)...instructions...

All movies played very well on the pc as usual....
got the DISC ERROR on the tv again!!!!!

Sooooooooooo...back to square 1.....
I'm hoping between ALL these people having the same problem that if someone finds an answer to KINDLY let eveyone else know....
