Are YOU sharing ? I pose a question about sharing files. I have gone to my "monitor" tab and seen as many as 30 people downloading my files. How many of them were willing to share THEIR files? One or two at the most. This happens on a daily basis. Even though it slows down my net speed, I still share. This makes no sense. I understand that those who are using BearShare or some other program are not responsible for not being able to share with us Limewire users. But what about the hundreds and hundreds that are limewire users that refuse to share? I thought this was a file sharing community. I guess I thought wrong. How sad is that? Is their a possibility that my XP firewall is stopping them? No. Because I am able to download files from some ( few ) users. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated. Thanks! |

I must say don't be confused by the ability to browse or not with sharing. Too many people make that same mistake. It's not always easy browsing others, particularly other Gnet client programs. Those that show the Chat icon will be so much easier to browse! Likewise unless you have chat enabled others may find you hard to browse! Some hints & points: How to Direct Connect, Browse & Chat |

reply to LOTR Thanks LOTR. I have noticed that those with the chat icon are the ones who usually let others download. However.....these kind folks are few and far between. Wouldn't it be great if everyone shared. It would be like McDonalds-->> Billions and Billions Served!:p |

Sharing I share all my files that I have downloaded from Limewire. I only wish everyone would let me download - what is the problem with everyone? Someone will start to let you download and then suddenly cut you off even though they are still online downloading themselves. GRRRRRRR! |

Just to re-iterate, just b/c you can't browse someone does not mean they are not sharing. And those who do not have their firewalls properly configured to allow LW full access will be very difficult to browse & almost impossible to direct connect to. In search results, those with their locations in red are firewalled. You can often still downld from them but probably won't be able to browse them. If you right-click (Control-click for mac) on top of columns then more column view options are available such as Location. This will indicate whether they have configured their firewalls properly. For computer based firewall softw configuration for LW see: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml for the most common firewalls. |
