Windows ME compatibility issues. Hey all! I'm a new user of Limewire because I lost my cable connection for a few months rights as Napster went under (as far as I'm concerned). At any rate...I have a new HP Pavilion (POS) with Windows ME (because I'm a complete proprietary-buying idiot who didn't know any better), and now it seems that no games, file sharing software or anything else that I want to use will work with this darn thing.
My PC is a 6 month old HP Pavilion xe742 with a 40GB hard drive, 192MB of PC100 DIMM RAM, a 24x CD-ROM/Writer, a SoundBlaster 16PCI, and a crappy integrated, 11mb Intel 82810 Graphics Controller (supposedly non-upgradable). It came with Windows ME OS (the 2nd version), which doesn't seem to work correctly with any dial-ups, several games....and now...my file sharing software.
If anyone has experienced the same problem or knows of a fix, patch, update, whatever....please let me know. Otherwise I'll be making back-ups for 12GBs of mp3s before re-formatting my hard drive for Windows 98 Upgrade.
Thanks in advance for your help,
