Click on start menu then select run.
Type in C:\uploads.
Select all the files in the folder then delete them all(ctrl a,delete).
The virus will still be on your system so you need to get rid of it,i tryed spybot search and destroy, norton,ad adware but they didnt work so someone recomended this(just the free one)

http://www.pandasoftware.com/product..._principal.htm

and it removed the virus i think it was a w32 spyworm.
There may be better programmes to remove it but thats just the one i used.

Now when you start limewire again the folder 'uploads'will appear in the libary window again but it should be empty.
Right click on it and select 'stop shareing'and it will disappear.

And that should be it,i no longer have any problems with it but bear in mind before i found out how to remove it i uninstalled limewire and removed every trace of it of my computer and as i knew what the virus was bundeled with i did the same to that as well(it was a gif animation programme).
So if you have no luck then you may need to do this too.

Good luck:)

i have this too but the folder's name is complete and the files are like almost 1mb and i hate it

NarutoBoy July 15th, 2005 10:24 PM

complete? o.O;; thats crazy.. I donno what it is, but try using Panda and scan for viruses

newfangler July 16th, 2005 08:41 PM

i got the "completed" folder thingy too. it gets annoying to delete the darn thing over and over again. mcafee didn't find anything. limewire makes itself startup on windows boot eventhough i've turned off that feature. and when i close it, it just starts again. everything i do seems to be futile. what the HECK is this?

funny you should say this, cos i have the very same prob. I get around 5000 items, all the same size (765kb) It's getting a bit worrying now. If you hear of a solution, please let me know. Thanx:confused:

you should get Avast and run it, also try going into safe mode(F8) and running scan that way and manuelyy removing it in safe mode. that may be the only way, Just in case you don't know how, Reboot your comp. and start pressing F8 as soon as it turns back on that will put you in safe mode and you can safely delete stuff from there.

C:\Upload (The W32 spyworm)

Dear Guys (Those that caught this W32 spyworm)

How did you get this worm, e.g. were you running a virus scanner at the time (Y or N), did you deliberately download and run an *.exe file without scanning it first, did you download a *.zip file and autorun it, etc.

It is well known (by almost everybody) that surfing the web or using the P2P network without having an up to date virus scanner running is asking for trouble. It is also well known that you can't trust exe and zip files downloaded off P2P.

So, I am trying to understand how so many people caught this worm when a few simple precautions, such as setting your LW filter to exclude exe and zip files and running a virus scanner, could have saved so much hassle.

Also, though there are no size filters in LW yet, not downloading files under 1 or 2mb is a very sensible policy to adopt.

Therefore, unless someone can say something different, it really look like those that caught this worm were either reckless, careless or both.

Hi all, managed to fix this "uploads" virus. Downloaded free trial of Panda titanium anti virus, which found it and killed it, but you also need to click "Run" c:\uploads- select all- then delete. this definitely will get rid of it. Good luck
