more limewire scams

Ok… When I registered for limewire, I was prompted to pick a ‘package’… this obviously turns out to be a scam. I have been charged monthly from imusicshare.com for the BASIC limewire program, and as I understand it should be free?? Any advice?

Remoc October 14th, 2007 03:41 PM

Yes Basic is Free. Only Download Limewire from here. Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent «.
You should read the thread that you posted in and follow the advice that you read. Report the Scam site to your financial institute and try to get your money back. Thats about all you can do at this point.

MP3Helpdesk.com

The person who ripped me off - their web chat didn't work and their links to cancel subscription were broken. I was informed by my credit card supplier I would have to wait until it appeared on my statement to dispute it :(

Computer crashed, now what?!

I have read through several different situations here.... and am starting to think I'm screwed. I purchased a year of Limewire Pro from limewire.com, paid full price & even used it a few times. My computer just crashed and I'm trying to get it back. However, limewire is saying they don't recognize my e-mail address & I can't seem to find a phone number or e-mail to contact anyone. HELP!!!

Remoc November 11th, 2007 01:59 AM

If your sure you bought from here Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent « , Then send limenathan, a PM and hopefully he can sort it all out.

Burton November 11th, 2007 04:13 PM

Thanks! I'll try that & see if I can get somewhere. Appreciate it very much.

wondering why November 29th, 2007 01:27 AM

This is a forum not a chat room, we don't sit on here 24/7....
Please explain your problem a little more thoroughly as your previous post is a little vague...

undecidedlady November 29th, 2007 01:40 AM

i too thought i was smarter than this

*sigh* yes i have been scammed too (MP3MusicHQ.com).So far i've had 2 "webchats" if you can call them that and have emailed them to cancel with no luck. The phone number for australia just rings and rings then disconects or rings a couple of time the silence. I am so mad at myself for being so stupid giving them my CC details.I will try to email them again cross your fingers for me.

Remoc March 6th, 2008 06:57 PM

More Importantly, Secure your CC Details. Call your Financial Institution and shut that accnt. down. Now let them help you with this problem.
You May or May not get anywhere with the Scammers so the MOST Important thing is to Call the CC Co. NOW!!

mrs jack March 6th, 2008 06:58 PM

thanks i will straight away

mrs jack March 6th, 2008 07:41 PM

after much stuffing around on the phone i have cancelled my CC, and they are reissuing me a new CC and number so they(scammers) wont be able to make anymore charges against my account. The operater i spoke to finally was very helpful and wasn't surprised when i told them who it was.
My big question to CC co's if they know about these scammers already why they themselves dont just have a blanket ban against them.i know they(scammers) will probably just change their name as they have done in the past but surely it would slow them down a bit.Maybe i'm just being a bit unrealistic ,i am just so mad atm.

(sorry about the scroller rant)

dmwhit92 March 14th, 2008 11:12 AM

Check this out-there is a scammer advertising right here!

LimeWireProExpert.com/Unlimited

I cannot believe that Limewire's posting site has advertising from a bogus Limewire site on it!!! Just hit the link to confirm that it is not a legit site....
Go figure..:violin::pullinghair:

adniessen March 26th, 2008 06:04 PM

I also got scammed - paid $49.90 to ClickBank via PayPal. The MAJOR problem is that I was on the LimeWire Web Site and clicked on the Buy the Pro version, and ended up with ClickBank and Members' Area Login. Nothing told me I was not purchasing from LimeWire officially, until I was all done, and, when trying to e-mail Limewire Pro for Tech Support, got told I didn't have Limewire Pro. How do I deal with this???? adniessen

QtrTillDawn May 23rd, 2008 03:47 PM

Do we not read what is given to us?

Why on this good green earth would you give your CC information to somebody? NEVER, I repeat never give out that info. Unless you started the contact, even then be wary.

In less than about 20 seconds I can compile all the information about you that would make you think I was honest, or that I was your bank.

Limewire and most honest places will never ask for your information. If you wish to purchase the PRO, you must go there, if they ask, delete and run.

Heck, I reboot about once a day, and I am already tired of them asking. But they ask..... Sales pitch.

Networking is a scary situation. I open my computer to the masses. And the first person that tries to do more, will find more in their puter. I am dumb, I am not an idiot!

Got a storm coming through here, gonna turn off for awhile!

Is mp3download.net a scam? Unfortunately I am new to all of this. After purchasing an MP3 player and being directed to them (I have slept since then and can't remember how exactly, but I do remember seeing that it came highly recommended by CNN, MSN, etc). At any rate, I subscribed to it. Then was directed to download one of the softwares and I chose Limewire. I became concerned after my son told me that people were getting into trouble for downloading using these programs. Please forgive my ignorance on this, but I thought that by buying the 34.95 membership I was okay. Now I think not and am worried that I did something illegal and will get into trouble.

wondering why September 8th, 2008 11:40 AM

Yes it is a scam site, they charged you for something that you can get for free...You can get limewire basic for free....Go back through this thread on ways to get your money back...

Also if you type legal into the search function you will see many threads on the issue....

dudsrussell September 21st, 2008 01:52 PM

Hi, This is my first time on a forum. I purchased lime wire pro yesterday. It will open only on my daughters page but not mine. When i tried to e mail them, it says it does not recognize my e mail. It had no problem recognizing my bank account because I was promptly charged the $34.95. I am so frustrated because there seems to be no way to contact them... I just want to cancel. Any suggestions?
Karen

wondering why September 22nd, 2008 02:28 AM

I would contact your bank and try to get the charges reversed...There are some really helpful tips within this thread on how other people got their money back...

dudsrussell September 22nd, 2008 05:52 AM

limewire does not recognize my email

Thanks for the reply I am not the brightest computer user in the box and couldn't really see what else I could do but notify my band since I have no way to contact limewire. I get so frustrated.

Thanks Birdy - you're a champ. Luckily, I paid through PayPal so think I'll probably get a refund (we'll see). I should have been more caregul, bu there you have it. Thank you so much for your help. It's people like you who make the world go round.
Kind regards
Bruce Avent
