System Recovery Feature

HiHello

When and if you get your files back, it may be a good idea to switch the System Recovery facility in WinXP on. I know this is "shutting the gate after the horse has bolted" but you never know when going back to a "restore point" will come in handy.

What does the System Recovery facility do?

There are always chances for you to recover at least one file... but who knows... You can find this only by givening a try

(and there are some more info's I posted again...)

System Recovery

HiHello

Here's the official version from MS:
Quote:

About System Restore
System Restore monitors system changes and saves the system state as a restore point. If a system problem develops as a result of a system change, the user can return the system to a previous state using the data from a restore point.

Applications and the system can create restore points when system changes occur. System Restore also creates checkpoints every 24 hours of absolute time. It can also be configured to create restore points at regular intervals. In addition, users can create restore points at any time.

System Restore does not restore user data or documents, so it will not cause users to lose their files, e-mail, browsing history, or favorites. System Restore is also made available to users in safe mode, making it easier for them to restore their computers to a state before problems occurred.
When "System Restore" is on your PC, at regular intervals, saves your system. If you have a problem, like an installation has mucked up your PC, you can access the SR facility and go back to a date before the problem occured.

It is a very useful facility and, in all honesty, should always be on.

There is at least 1 year since I last run the program... I really don't remember much... But I think that the program should have some help files...

Glad to read that you recovered some of your files.

Uk Bob

ukbobboy011. I never used System Restore (and don't recomand to others to do so) and always I'm keep on disableing it but it keeps on enableing it's self all the time... right know I looked and it is enable again    ...

2. I don't think that System Restore will ever work for me... 'cause "System Restore does not restore user data or documents" (and mp3's are cosiderated user data or documents...) than I don't need it... I think it only restores system & windows files...

3. I never used it so I don't know to much about the recovers it is doing... but I'll better install windows every day than run a JUNKY windows restored by System Restore...

So it won't recover mp3's?
