Default Limiting my bandwith

I have just started college and i have come to realize that the school has limited its bandwith for P2P file sharing making it impossible to download anything from programs like limewire and DC++ or anything like that.

I understand why the school is limiting its bandwith for this; and that is to stop illegal downloading. I have stoped illegaly downloading for some time and i currently use limewire for perfectly legal reasons.

I want to know if what the school has done is legal. Is this not an infringment on our freedom of the internet?

If anyone has any answers or possible ways of getting my school to stop limiting its bandwith please email me or continue this post for other likewise students to read and discuss.
