i had some searches going that have now left my search area and are now just incompletete files in my library, how do I get them back into the search area or stop this happening in future?

It could be due to a no. of reasons.
1. You cancelled the downld.
2. Sometimes if a downld finds a different source you end up with multiple incomplete files, eg: King (1).mp3, King (2).mp3. But you have probably already downlded the actual song but left over with these others. Usually they will be coloured red. LW has always had this issue & happens with only some downlds.
3. After you opened LW did you get a warning message saying LW can't load incompletes? If yes, this happens either due to a computer crash. Or you didn't close LW properly before shutting down the computer. LW might be taking too long to close down. When you close LW, wait a minute & then use contol-alt-del to bring up the task manager & see if LW is still listed. If yes, then there's something wrong.
One reason might be that you have set LW to close down only after uploads have finished. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Shutdown & tick the option for LW to close immediately at shutdown.
