OK, so I'll assume it's a virus. Is there anything I can do about it? Is it on MY computer - or is someone uploading it to almost every file I try to find. It seems to be everywhere and I can't seem to find a file I can download without it being 851.7 kb in size. Can someone tell me the whole story, please? Thanks.....

Well, I just tried to download Call Soft (a telephone answering program) - and most of the listings were 851.7 kb in size. I can understand mp3's - but even most **programs** I look up have the same issue.

Ignore anything below 1 MB in size. When the search results are coming in, double-click on the top of the size column of the search results & that will arrange the largest files at the very top & the spam/virii at the bottom.

As for phone tones ... hmm just beware of the known sizes of virii. Are you aware there are sites around that offer free phone tones. Google it. I found some for someone on the forum not so long ago so perhaps you could use the search button to find those links. That was for a particular type of phone though. But some of the links are still probably good for you.

No, Call Soft isn't phone tones - it's a sophisticated telephone answering machine (software - computer based that uses a voice modem). Try Dragon Naturally Speaking and ACDSee - you'll see that those, too, come up with many files that are 851.7 kb in size. So, too, will may other common programs.

It doesn't sound like something that will be especially common ... but I could be wrong. Try to abbreviate your searches. eg: Dragon/Dragon Naturally/ACD/ACDSee & as both any type & audio type searches. You might come across someone who does have many. Then try browsing them to see if they have more. Keep a note of their ip so you can connect at a later time if need be. This is worth a try. (Also think of other options. Such as what extension does the file have? Search that. If it's not a common format, then add that extension to your shared list of extensions.) It's obvious I don't have a mobile lol FM phones are good enough for me generally. Unless I'm cross-country.

Tried abbreviating my search - results "slightly" different - but, still, most of the results were 851.7 kb in size. Tried browsing - and I think the original file (851.7 kb) was planted - and the others were downloaded on unsuspecting searchers. If true, this will soon cause a Limewire CRASH. Have you tried this yourself to see what I mean?

I've seen the sizes. I just ignore them. And if my search was unsuccessful, then I brainstorm as to other possible search words I can use that are related to the topic.

yeah i get lots of those aswell, but indeed i just ignore them, and if you take the time to search, you will eventually find a good file, except with war of the worlds, it's all the old version or camed, or asian or whatever, that's the ONLY movie i can't get that's good quality

I download suspicious files to a memory stick and then scan for viruses before putting it on my hard drive. Last night, downloaded Duke Nukem to memory stick - did scan with Norton - full of viruses (yes, it was 851.7 kb). Sad thing was there were 35 other people downloading it as well.
