Which version of Nero do you have? Nero 6 & 7 are excellent at burning videos to dvd. Version 7 even better as it has extra divx support than before. Choose video format & dvd output, select your video file, select type of menus you want & chapter settings. I only have Nero 5 so I can't walk it thru with you but I have heard from others about its abilities. I use a mac to burn my dvd videos. BTW Nero will do any necessary conversions. Oh & audio format. Choose Dolby digital 192 kbps otherwise you'll be using unnecessary audio space which would be better put to encoding the video for better quality.
Check your dvd burner brand & model & see whether it can burn only or both dvd-/+ as these are different dvd formats (a little like vhs v's beta.) If it can only burn one or the other then you'll need to get those type of dvd disks. If you have a dvd rw burner, trial it out on a rewritable disk 1st to be sure it works as you want it to. (But beware, some set-top players don't play dvd-/+ rw media.) Also some brands if not most brands of dvd burners have a preference for certain brands of dvd media & will be more reliable with such prefered media. Same can be said for 'some' dvd set-top players.

take your time and look for a version of Nero 7 on sale...I've seen copies around with rebate offers that are basically dirt cheap..
Nero 7 does a damn good job of transcoding video files to DVD format and then burning them to DVD on 'autopilot'...damn nice app and well worth the $

You really have no other choice than to go to the Nero web site and download the manual for your product and read through it. Simply because it is highly unlikely that anyone will be able to give you a step by step guide on how to use your version of Nero. UK Bob |

I have just read through your other thread about "help with video saving" and it seems to me that you are trying to run before you can walk. Now I understand that computers may be new to you and you know they can do all sorts of things that didn't seem possible a few years ago. But the only way to do something for the very first time is toO get the particular manual, sit down and read through it. Every expert, knowledgable person, etc. has had to, at some time in their lives, read through manuals. Once you understand how something is suppose to work you will find it a breeze to get it to do what you want. You just have to take that first step. I see in this thread that Peerless has advised you to upgrade to Nero 7, which is good advice, but you wil still need the mnual if you are going to get the best out of it. I am somewhat behind on that, I still use Nero 5.5 and I have found that I can burn and do all sorts of things with it, such as burn my own SVCDs which I can play on my DVD player, burn my CDs, with or without a 2 second gap between songs and more. All of which I would not have known about if I had not bothered with the manuals. Uk Bob |
