Default LimeWire uses 100% CPU

Hi. after LimeWire has been running for a few mins the CPU % in use steadily increases until LimeWire uses 99%, hence slowing my computer heavily. Any ideas what the problem is?

Thanks

After opening LW, let it settle for 10-20 mins before using. Don't rush it. Also, don't use the Resume/Find Resources button on all your files. If you use it then use it on just one to three at a time. Otherwise it will use up all your computer's resources. Perhaps not downlding too many files simultaneously will also help. Make sure you have up to date Java.

Other tips: Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue!

What are the specs of your computer/system (e.g. cpu, memory, OS, internet connection, etc)? Are you running any apps at the same time?

I have a 2.4 gHz p4, 80Gig SATA 7200rpm HD, w/ 512 ram on cable ISP & have never had a problem w/ LW unless I got to the point where my HD was nearly full & Windoze (XP) virtual memory manager was struggling for space. At those points I had to free up some real estate on the HD. I've been so short on space that defrag wouldn't run...so I cleared my temp folders, emptied what I could, & it helped. Sometimes we forget that our HD space & speed will effect software. I noticed improvement after I burn/backup files & free up space.

If your HD is low on space & virtual memory is cramped it will affect performance.

PS: I'm hoping that two 500Gig SATA HDs are under the tree Sunday!!
