Whenever I try to preview a video that I am downloading in Limewire, it defaults to Windows Media Player and I get the codec code error. I downloaded and installed VLC, but Limewire still defaults to WMP when I try to preview the video. Is there a way to change the default video player for the Limewire preview or do I have to uninstall the WMP? Thanks

thanks, I alrfeady had looked at that thread. That link seems to be more of how to change the default viewer for a file that has already loaded. I was more interested in changing the defualt viewer in Limewire for previewing a video that is being downloaded. Thanks

No you're wrong. The method is to change the overall system default for video formats. ie: right-click any avi, mpeg/mpg, etc. format file & choose open with & choose always open with VLC. That "is" changing the default. After that, LW will launch VLC to launch those types of files. LW always uses the default player. LW itself cannot make the change.
You might want to also check WMP's options to see whether it has any default demands in its settings. |
