Gramps implying I don't have common sense isn't an insult?
#1 That is my Sig and in no way applies to you or anybody else I reply to it is just a well known saying.

You did some very selective reading and editing in your bold posting of the LimeWire policy. You forgot to highlight the part that applies to your rant in bold.

A: LimeWire BASIC is completely free to download and use. An enhanced version of LimeWire, LimeWire PRO, is also available for a one time charge. LimeWire PRO can be purchased as an electronic download or on CD.

LimeWire is a software application. The one-time payment for LimeWire PRO is a payment to purchase a copy of the program.PRO purchasers also receive Technical Support via email and up to 6 months of free updates.

You will not be charged again by Lime Wire after your initial purchase. After 6 months, Pro users have the option to purchase an additional 6 months of technical support and free updates for a reduced price.

All Sales Are Final!

There is a free version of LimeWire for you to try before buying PRO, so we will not issue refunds for LimeWire PRO software purchases. We do not have sufficient support staff to process refunds manually for such a large user base. Therefore we are making it very clear up front: no refunds for any reason. This includes but is not limited to cases where LimeWire PRO performs poorly on your computer.

Now I was merely pointing out that your rant about legal issues is covered in there policy it clearly states 6 months in their policy. And I did not read your previous post nor was I answering your other post I was answering your rant on this post.

Now as for me if I had your problem I would install the free version then do a search for my PRO version. Since I have already paid for it.

Grandpa!

What part of this are you just not getting. AGAIN I SAY: I don't give a flying fig about the free version of Limewire....... NOR do I care about the support for 6 months.

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I BOUGHT AND PAID FOR A COPY OF LIMEWIRE PRO!!!

The sales agreement said in short: That if I bought the copy, I would NOT have to re-purchase it in order to USE it!

It says........ if I want to continue UPDATING it or continue to recieve SUPPORT of that COPY after 6 months, I could CHOOSE to pay again (at a discounted rate of course).

ONCE AND FOR ALL.........

There is NOTHING wrong with the copy I purchased!! NOTHING WRONG WITH THE COPY I PURCHASED! THIS IS NOT A SUPPORT ISSUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I read every single line of the purchase agreement PRIOR to purchasing this copy and at no point did that agreement state or even imply that in the future, Limewire would disconnect my ability to install the software I was buying...... nor did it suggest that accessing their servers to DO AN INSTALL was even necessary.

This is a case of LIMEWIRE disabling my ability of using the COPY I BOUGHT WHICH IS ILLEGAL!

Because they require that CD installation to access their server to properly install, they are putting themselves in a liable situation by discontinuing that server connection without offering those buyers an alternative to get the software THEY BOUGHT to install.

You continue to focus on the support and updates and I have said time and time again, that is not my motivation and FURTHERMORE was not the reasons why I bought it to begin with!

PRO PROVIDES:
Better search results
Turbo-charged download speeds
Connect to more sources

THIS is why I bought the software. The same reasons I would purchase Adobe Acrobat Full instead of the free version available to all. It comes with full capabilities whereas the free version has limitations.

FURTHERMORE!!!!!!!!! The legal issues I bring up are NOT covered in the agreement. ONE LAST TIME: Because Limewire's Pro CD requires the installation to access Limewire's server in order to complete installation, Limewire is required by Law to maintain client based access to that server after they purchase the software or ELSE provide them with an alternative that; by their own admission, does not require re-purchase.

My "ranting" is a REASONABLE response to being the victim of an illegal act.

Yours, however, is just an attempt to show power of knowledge which is seriously flawed BUT... that flaw appears to be your refusal to see the facts I have pointed out and have an understanding of consumer rights.

So, if you'll please stop eluding to my lack of comprehension, and only continue to respond to my posts with legitimate solutions to this LEGAL issue... the justified anger might cease.

May I ask, at what point does the installer stop. Generally with the newer installers, as soon as you open the installer, it will say welcome to the x.x version installer.

May I ask what year & month you bought the LW installer CD?

Here's an example of an older Mac OSX installer 1st window after the installer is opened:

Right from the word go, this installation stops. It appears as if the very first thing it begins to do is access that server so I never even get farther than a spash screen and click to continue installation.

When I bought it? It was approximately 2 years ago next month if memory serves. So: The beginning of 2004?

Lord of the Rings January 29th, 2006 02:39 PM

So most likely version 3.7.1 or 3.7.7; http://www.limewire.com/english/cont..._history.shtml

Is there only a single installer program on the disk? I am surprised there isn't a standalone installer. Check the entire disk & sub-folders!

I've sent a pm to a member of LW to find out what the situation was at that time re: LW installation CD's. That was 5-6 hrs ago now. But it could take a while to find out. When I do I'll get back to you if not she will 1st. They may also have had different purchase policies at that time.

Personally I never used LW v. 3 as I jumped from version 2.x to 4.0.4
2-3 months before I found the forum I guess.

Thank you! Your advise was very helpful and appreciated. Based on the link and info you provided I have NOW been able to install my copy and I see it's version 3.6.15 Pro, which may be old but it's all I need.

Thanks again........ Problem solved.

Lord of the Rings January 29th, 2006 02:48 PM

Xcellent so there was a standalone installer not requiring online connection to LW. I'm glad to hear it. Enjoy! :)

To lord of the rings

So it seems seems to me that my best my only solution is to go out and buy it again and make sure I get the cd so i dont have to buy it a 4th time? Their is no real solution for thoes of us that did not buy the cd as well?

Lord of the Rings January 31st, 2006 11:07 AM

The best thing to do is downld the Pro version & back it up. Back it up onto external HDD, or CD, etc. Then you'll always have a copy of it. But there's a good reason why LW updates. The gnutella network changes & develops. And so do the gnutella programs. So older programs become a heavy weight on the network as they don't work the same way or behave the way expected of the newer gnutella programs. The much older versions actually do damage to the network by causing much more traffic with less results. Thus slowing the network down. That's why people are always prompted to update asap.
